FiiO BTR5 Flagship Portable High-Fidelity Bluetooth Amplifier

I bought this small but fantastic DAC 6 months ago to use with my earphone Shure SE846. Connected on my phone with Bluetooth 5 or on my MacBook Pro with a USB-C cable, I was pleasantly surprised to find that this little BTR5 reproduces my music in a really acceptable way for its price. Moreover, the microphone functionality works very well when connected to my phone. Highly recommended.

So far this little guy has been great. Drives my HD560S’s pretty well even using the std 3.5mm unbalanced jack. Haven’t gotten to test using the more powerful 2.5 balanced jack yet as I’m wait For a new cable but I’m going to assume it’s going to be even better.

The Bluetooth connection seems pretty good. Seems good for same room reach. Any further you will experience drop outs.

The controls are kinda clunky at first but after a days use it becomes pretty strait fwd.

Only have 2 gripes with the device. One being I personally would have preferred the jacks to be located at the bottom of the device as opposed to being out the top. It would put less pressure on the jack from the cable when holding device in intended orientation.

And one weird bug I noticed is sometime when you start the device it isn’t using the proper eq setting You set last even though the menu says it is. You have to toggle the eq one setting up and down and back to get it to work. It doesn’t happen every time but has happened a few times over the few days I’ve had it.

Other then these 2 things it’s so far a good little Bluetooth amp Dac and I can recommend it.

Surprisingly good sounding dac for what it costs. I'm using it with 1MORE Quad Driver and together they sound great. Very detailed, musical with great resolution and separation. It has excellent built quality and design. if you are thinking about buying it, don't hesitate. Very highly recommended!

I am blown away with this DAC+AMP, the music sounds richer and fuller. I love this device and it has got me listening to music everyday. I even paid to get high-bit rate streaming music just to enjoy what this DAC has to offer!!!

It has enough power to drive my Sennheiser 6XX headphones. I mainly use it with the USB and it works with Linux. This is a definite must have for music lovers. I did test it over Bluetooth and it sounds just as good.

Great sound and lots of customisation for a nice price!

Very good dac/amp. Exceptional soundstage. Lots of power (drive 250ohm cans nicely). Bluetooth works well. It can be problematic when using wired connection as it keeps trying to connect by bluetooth when all other bluetooth gear is set to off. Overall a great value and performs way above it’s price point. Might be best value currently out there.

I've been frustrated with typical bluetooth headphones with noise floor, connection issues and low sound quality and so the quest began for something with LDAC that would be compatible with my LG phone and I could match it with headphones I like. I tried the BTR5 on my favorite headphones using LDAC @990 kbps I noticed it is way better than any other headphone amp and DAC I've used. This is the type of revealing sound quality that can show a lot of detail in the sound so you need some good resolution headphones. I have a few headphones and the open back style really shines with the BTR5 but for anyone starting out and on a budget the Koss kph30i matches well to the BTR5 for a very cheap solution that is semi open and has some holographic detail on well recorded tracks. The only thing with the BTR5 is the battery life could be better but it does charge fast. Highly recommend this one!

My only complaint is that the battery life is not very long. It's my first device of this kind, so I am not sure what to expect, although I find if I don't shut it off after finishing with it, it will be very low the next time I go to listen to music. Sometimes I carry a charging pod to plug into it, which can be cumbersome, and affects portability.
