When I decided to get a speaker dock for my 160 GB iPod Classic I did a lot of research. The Harmon/Kardon Go + Play ll with 30 pin iPod connector got stellar reviews, but is no longer in production. Luckily, I found that Electronics For Less still had some available and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The sound quality of this speaker dock is nothing short of amazing. It has great bass response even at low listening levels and yet does not become overwhelming when you crank up the volume. I was a little leery of it's total lack of manual sound control, but I can now tell you that it really doesn't need it. It has a digital sound processor with what Harmon/Kardon calls an Intelligent EQ that works perfectly to compliment whatever EQ setting you select in your iPod/iPhone set up screen. That's a plus because it means that you won't be constantly fussing with settings to get the sound you want. This dock works with both A/C and batteries, and unlike most other speaker docks there is no appreciable loss of sound quality when used with batteries. If you plan on playing it unplugged a lot, pick up eight high capacity rechargeable D cell Ni-MH batteries along with a charger and you'll save some money in the long run. The Go + Play also comes with a neat little remote that controls both the speaker and your iPod/iPhone when it is plugged into the 30 pin connector on top, and stores in a handy compartment in the back when not in use. I have to admit that from the pictures I saw, I wasn't real thrilled with the style of this speaker dock. That opinion changed once I got it out of the box. It really is a lot nicer looking in person with a quality fit and finish that produces no rattling or buzzing at high volume and a nice weight that gives it a good substantial feel. Bottom line; if the way your music sounds is important to you, and you are in the market for a speaker dock, look no further.

I have had this product for a few weeks. The sound quality is amazingly good for such a small unit. While I am no audiophile, I am comparing it with my regular audio setup consisting of an Onkyo amplifier and Polk Rti A7 speakers. The design is simple and elegant. I was pleasantly surprised that it was compatible with all my ipod products: 2nd and 3rd generation ipod Nano and iphone4. The reasons I have not given it 5 stars are that the connection system under the handle is a bit awkward and the remote control is not very intuitive. However there is a sticker for the back of the remote that allows for easy reference. The remote is needed for all functions of the unit except the on/off button on the unit itself. Fortunately there is a pocket at the back of the unit to store the remote so it does not get lost. Overall I am very pleased with this product and would highly recommend it. I am surprised the manufacturer does not advertise it more widely, this is a winner product.
