The louder you play them the better they sound. Bass response is fair; wish it was a little better however you can add a Sub if it's really important. I appreciate the versatility in terms of input or output options in addition to their 'just right' size. They'd be fine as desktop speakers however I'm using them with my Cambridge audio streamer/pre-amp. They are slightly overpriced IMO. Design and aesthetics are right on.
