Onkyo HT-S9100THX THX Integrated 7.1 Home Theatre System

Well worth the wait! This system is frighteningly good. It took some planning to get it wired with the speakers in optimal position. The supplied cable was not long enough so I upgraded but once everything was in place and working, I cranked it... a memorable moment. I love listening to my streamed music through Apple TV. Movies on my 50" HDTV are awesome. The sub is a house-shaker! Excellent manual & remote. Deservedly THX certified. Exceptional value. Buy it now.

I'm not much of an audiophile but I did want good sound so an HTIB was ideal. My criteria is it had to be 7.1 even though its format isn't widely used I at least had the option to use, It had to have at least 3 HDMI in and 1 HDMI out for PS3, XBOX360, and PVR . The receiver had to process sound and pass through video from the HDMI sources. The receiver must also up convert or at least pass through component/composite video so I only needed to run 1 HDMI cord to the display. Now what sold me on the HT-S9100THX was the speakers. For a HTIB most of the speakers if not all of the speakers in comparable systems would be made out of plastic. I did not want the plastic. The bonus was this system is THX certified but that shouldn't matter to non-audiophiles like me. What made this system a breeze was its auto-speaker calibration that allowed me to not worry to much about the installation. This system met or exceeded all my wanted criteria and was able to do so on a budget.
