Bought these on sale for under $300 Canadian to pair up with my Tangent Ampster II, and the combination does not disappoint. The Cerwin-Vega! LA165’s are very good “budget” speakers with excellent build quality including quite a nice crossover with modern poly caps, and of course the iconic red woofer surround. A very nice curved cabinet shows that some thought went into the design. Even have magnetic grills - nice. And the sound is much better than I was expecting, detailed, rich with pretty good bass response for a 6.5 inch driver. Try a set for yourself if you’re looking for a decent bookshelf speaker in this price range.
