The sound is marvelous. Brighter than the Sennheiser 5xx, more punch,very defined. Not too much bass,the sound stage is accurate. This can be in the audiophile "section" . For now I use the Audio Technica ATH-MSR7 and have given a break to my old Sennheiser Ovations. Other type of sound is good after a while. One star removed because they squeeze the ears and it take a while to make them fit properly, unless you have a narrow head... You'll have to bend the top once in a while to make them more comfortable to wear. They worth their price.
