JBL PartyBox 300 High Power Portable Bluetooth Speaker - Open Box

This was an open box item that just look like new. The speaker itself is what I was looking for. I needed a portable (battery powered) speaker with BT connexion and a mic input.

It is loud enough for a youth group of 40 when we get out (park, backyard, outdoor activities). It is not as loud as a real PA system, but it is great for my need. The overall sound is good without being audiophile grade. This is what I was expecting for that price range. If we want to be picky, High (treble) are ok for me but might lack a bit of clarity for some. The bass is there but could be a bit muddy in the 100-150Hz range. If you have an EQ on your device this could be solve. There is 2 Bass Boost option that you might want to play with depending of your environment. The mid will lack some definition but again, this is not a 3k$ system.

There are a guitar (instrument) and a mic inputs. This is fun and quite handy for my need. Be aware that the mic input has some kind of reverb on it. I cannot find how to remove that effect but if I use the guitar input with the mic then I'm find (no effect in the guitar input).

Is it really portable... as long as you could carry 30lbs (14kg) around. In others feedback, one the first reaction is the size of the speaker. It has nothing to do with the portable speaker that we usually see around. Do yourself a favor and figure out the dimension before buying it. It looks pretty tough. Battery life is good for me but I have never used more than 3 hours without a power source.

Overall, I got this one for the same price as the JBL BoomBox. The PartyBox is way bigger, louder, more options and has the light effect as a bonus, so I'm a happy camper and would give a nice 5 stars when compare to others in the same category.
