iFi iCAN PHANTOM 1.5 Reference Headphone Amplifier & Electrostatic Energiser

The iFi iCAN PHANTOM 1.5 is a reference-grade headphone amplifier designed to drive an exceptionally wide range of headphones, from sensitive in-ear monitors and demanding planar magnetic headphones to electrostatic designs. Combining enormous output capability with dedicated electrostatic energiser circuitry and selectable solid-state and tube amplification, it provides a single high-performance platform for a diverse headphone collection.

Balanced output delivers more than 15,000mW of maximum power at 16 ohms, providing substantial reserves for demanding headphones. Three user-selectable gain settings of 0dB, 12dB and 24dB allow the amplifier to accommodate headphones with widely different sensitivity and power requirements.

Two fully balanced Class A preamplification circuits allow the character of the amplifier to be changed to suit the headphones or recording. Solid-State mode uses a discrete Class A circuit for speed and control, while the all-valve Class A stage uses hand-matched NOS GE5670 tubes. Tube+ mode further increases the valve character for a warmer presentation.

The integrated electrostatic energiser provides a dedicated 230V output along with a configurable Custom/Pro output supporting 500V to 640V bias options. Individually calibrated SD cards allow the appropriate bias voltage to be selected for compatible electrostatic headphones, while adjustable AC termination and impedance controls provide additional tuning of the amplifier and headphone interaction.

XBass Pro provides adjustable low-frequency enhancement, while XSpace Pro is designed to create a more speaker-like spatial presentation. Both functions offer three levels of real-time adjustment.

The iCAN PHANTOM 1.5 also features iFi Nexis connected control. The Nexis app provides remote access to amplifier settings, over-the-air updates and tube health information, complementing the physical controls, colour OLED display, VU meters and infrared remote control.
