The Ci200TRb supports both passive operation with compatible amplification and active operation using the optional KEF KASA500 subwoofer amplifier. Ultra-Slim Architectural Subwoofer Design

With a cutout diameter of 240 mm (9.45"), the subwoofer can be installed into a properly prepared ceiling opening, providing a space-saving alternative to traditional floor-standing subwoofers.

High-Performance 200 mm Bass Driver

At the heart of the Ci200TRb is a specially engineered 200 mm (8") low-frequency driver designed to reproduce bass within the constraints of an ultra-slim architectural enclosure.

The driver delivers controlled low-frequency output suitable for reinforcing music, movie soundtracks and television audio. Its maximum acoustic output of 109 dB SPL provides substantial dynamic capability for a compact in-ceiling subwoofer.

With a sensitivity of 87 dB (2.83V/1m), the Ci200TRb can be integrated into appropriately configured audio systems for dedicated bass reproduction.

Passive and Active Operating Modes

The Ci200TRb provides flexible integration options through its support for passive and active operating configurations.

In passive mode, the subwoofer operates with suitable external amplification and provides a specified frequency response of 42 Hz to 120 Hz (±6 dB). KEF recommends amplifier power of 10 to 125 watts for passive operation, with an adjustable low-pass filter set between 80 Hz and 120 Hz.

For enhanced performance, the Ci200TRb can be connected to the optional KEF KASA500 amplifier. This active configuration uses dedicated amplification and signal processing to extend the specified frequency response to 32 Hz to 120 Hz (±6 dB), providing deeper bass extension and optimized system control.

KEF KASA500 Amplifier Compatibility

The optional KEF KASA500 is a dedicated subwoofer amplifier designed to provide optimized amplification and digital signal processing for compatible KEF architectural subwoofers.

When the Ci200TRb is configured for active operation with the KASA500, the amplifier's processing optimizes low-frequency performance for the driver and installation environment. This arrangement provides a frequency range extending down to 25 Hz at the -10 dB point, subject to the selected KASA500 settings.

The KASA500 also supports adjustable low-pass filtering between 60 Hz and 120 Hz, allowing the subwoofer to integrate with compatible architectural speakers and home theatre systems.

Flexible Stereo and Mono Wiring Configurations

The Ci200TRb supports both stereo and mono connection configurations, providing flexibility when integrating the subwoofer into different audio systems.

In stereo mode, the subwoofer presents two 8-ohm connections, allowing suitable amplification of the individual channels. In mono mode, the nominal impedance is 16 ohms.

These configuration options allow the Ci200TRb to accommodate different amplifier arrangements, provided the installation follows KEF's recommended connection and amplifier requirements.

Deep Bass from a Discreet Ceiling Installation

The Ci200TRb is designed to reinforce the lowest frequencies in an architectural audio system without occupying valuable floor space. Installed within a suitable ceiling cavity, it can complement KEF in-ceiling and in-wall loudspeakers while maintaining a clean, uncluttered appearance.

This makes the subwoofer particularly useful in living rooms, bedrooms, home theatres and distributed audio installations where a conventional freestanding subwoofer would be undesirable.

Optimized Rear Cavity Requirements

The acoustic performance of an architectural subwoofer depends partly on the volume of the cavity behind the driver.

KEF specifies an ideal rear volume of 60 litres (2.12 cubic feet) for the Ci200TRb, with a minimum recommended rear volume of 35 litres (1.24 cubic feet). Providing an appropriate rear cavity volume helps the subwoofer achieve its intended low-frequency performance.

For installations requiring a dedicated enclosure, the optional KEF RNC200R rear enclosure provides an additional installation solution. The optional RIF200R rough-in frame can also assist with planning and preparing the ceiling opening during construction or renovation.

The Ci200TRb carries an IP64 protection rating, indicating dust-tight construction and resistance to splashing water.
