Two high-efficiency midwoofers reproduce detailed midrange frequencies and controlled bass, while two dedicated tweeters provide crisp high-frequency response. Proprietary split waveguides help distribute sound across the listening area, creating a wider soundstage for movies, television, music and gaming. A specially engineered bass-reflex system enhances low-frequency performance while minimizing unwanted distortion.

Finished in matte White, the Ray connects directly to a compatible television through its optical digital audio input and integrates with a home network using Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Apple AirPlay 2, Sonos multi-room audio, Trueplay room calibration and convenient app-based controls provide flexible listening options. Its compact dimensions and forward-facing acoustic design make it particularly suitable for smaller television stands, shelves and entertainment cabinets.

Four-Driver Acoustic Design

Sonos Ray features two dedicated tweeters and two high-efficiency midwoofers powered by four individually optimized Class D digital amplifiers. Enhanced Bass with Proprietary Bass-Reflex Technology

A specially designed low-velocity bass-reflex system extends the Ray's low-frequency performance while minimizing port noise and distortion. Proprietary anti-distortion processing further improves bass clarity, helping the soundbar deliver convincing impact from its compact enclosure.

For listeners seeking greater low-frequency extension, Ray can be expanded with a compatible Sonos wireless subwoofer, sold separately.

Clear Dialogue with Speech Enhancement

Sonos Speech Enhancement emphasizes voice frequencies to make spoken dialogue easier to understand during movies, television programs and documentaries. This feature is particularly useful when voices are difficult to distinguish from background music or sound effects.

Speech Enhancement can be enabled or disabled through the Sonos app, allowing listeners to adapt the presentation to different content and listening preferences.

Trueplay Room Calibration

Sonos Trueplay analyzes the acoustic characteristics of the listening environment and adjusts the soundbar's response to suit its placement. Using a compatible iOS device, Trueplay measures how sound interacts with the room and applies appropriate equalization adjustments.

Simple Optical Television Connection

The Ray connects to a compatible television using the included optical digital audio cable. This straightforward connection supports television audio without requiring an HDMI connection.

An integrated infrared receiver allows the soundbar to respond to compatible television remote controls for convenient volume adjustment. Supported home theatre audio formats include stereo PCM, Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround.

Ray does not support HDMI eARC, HDMI ARC or Dolby Atmos. Its optical audio connection is designed for compatible televisions equipped with a digital optical output.

Wi-Fi Streaming and Apple AirPlay 2

Built-in 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi connectivity allows Ray to connect to a compatible home network for wireless music streaming and Sonos multi-room integration. Apple AirPlay 2 provides additional streaming flexibility from compatible iPhone, iPad and other Apple devices.

A wired 10/100 Ethernet connection is also provided for installations where a physical network connection is preferred. The Sonos app provides access to supported music services, playback controls, system settings and compatible Sonos speakers throughout the home.

Expandable Sonos Home Theatre System

Ray can serve as the foundation of a larger Sonos home theatre system. Compatible Sonos speakers can be added as wireless surround channels, while a compatible Sonos subwoofer provides additional low-frequency performance.

As part of the Sonos ecosystem, Ray can also participate in synchronized multi-room music playback with other compatible Sonos products. Supported Sonos headphones can use TV Audio Swap for private television listening.

Compact Design for Flexible Placement

Measuring just 557 mm (21.93 inches) wide, 70 mm (2.76 inches) high and 93 mm (3.66 inches) deep, Sonos Ray is designed for entertainment areas where space is limited. Its forward-facing acoustic architecture helps maintain consistent performance when positioned on an open shelf or within a suitable television cabinet.

The matte White enclosure provides a clean, contemporary appearance, while integrated M5 mounting sockets allow installation with the optional Sonos Ray Wall Mount, sold separately.

Intuitive Touch Controls

Capacitive touch controls on the soundbar provide direct access to volume adjustment, playback, track skipping and replay functions. LED indicators communicate connection status, mute status and system information.

The Sonos app provides additional control over playback, room grouping, sound adjustments and system configuration. Ray does not include built-in microphones or native voice assistant functionality, although compatible Sonos voice-enabled devices can provide additional control options.
