Musical Fidelity A1 Integrated Class A Amplifier
The return of a true Hi-Fi classic. First released in 1985, the Musical Fidelity A1 became legendary for delivering pure Class A performance with remarkable musicality and the ability to drive demanding loudspeakers despite its modest power rating. The latest A1 preserves the original appearance, topology, and sonic character — now refined with modern components, improved power supply architecture, and remote volume control.
Built around a completely discrete and symmetrical Class A topology, the A1 delivers 25 watts per channel into 8 ohms with up to 25 amps peak-to-peak current. Its dynamic Class A design allows it to “slide” smoothly into Class B operation if the standing current is exceeded, maintaining composure and drive without abrupt switching artifacts.
The updated dual-mono split-rail transformer and independent left/right power supplies reduce ripple and noise while improving stereo imaging and current delivery. A premium ALPS RK motorized potentiometer enables precise volume control, now adjustable via the included remote.
The integrated phono stage features a discrete current-mode input stage for ultra-low noise MM and MC amplification, automatic MC impedance matching, and carefully implemented RIAA equalization.
